Shuttleworth Trust Military Pageant
3 July 2016
The Bedford branch has decided to hold an outreach event for the 150 years, but one that members of the Society could also participate in if they wish. The Branch is organising an event in association with the Shuttleworth Trust on the Military Pageant day on Sunday 3rd July. Aerospace/aviation companies based in Bedfordshire, that are also Corporate Members of RAeS, will be exhibiting in Hangar 3. The companies are as follows;
Aircraft Research Association
Blue Bear Research
Hybrid Air Vehicles
Luton Airport - together with an RAeS HQ and Bedford Branch stand and one for the Bedford Aeronautical Heritage Group.
During a flying day the general public can view the static collection of aircraft in the museum hangars and the route will take them through the hangar of exhibitors. Last year the flying days attracted four to six thousand visitors so this is an exciting opportunity to raise the awareness of the public, already interested in aviation, to the RAeS and the local branch as well as the companies currently active in the County. It is also aimed at younger persons to expose them to the opportunities in Bedfordshire in science and engineering and give them the opportunity to meet with Professional Engineers.
The event is referred to as “Aerospace in Bedfordshire” celebrating 150 years of the RAeS through the Bedford Branch.
The President elect Chris Atkin will welcome exhibitors and members of the RAeS in Hangar 3 at approximately 11.30 am. Members can obtain tickets from the Shuttleworth Trust. Telephone 01767 627927 or online at www.shuttleworth.org.
